The Flop House presents: Spice World

When The Flop House Podcast selected the British Classic “Spice World” for their live show here in Oxford, they did not realize that this film was not available to steam anywhere in the UK. So we partnered with Oxfords only independent cinema, The Ultimate Picture Palace, to bring you this special screening. Featuring an introduction from Elliott, Dan, and Stuart from the Flop House (barring any travel disasters). So see it on the big screen and then get your tickets to see the Flop House the next night for Maximum Fun! (or just go to the move and just enjoy that too).

The Flop House Podcast Live! (7pm Show)

America’s longest-running (probably) bad movie podcast is coming to the UK for the first and only (so far) time! Elliott Kalan (former writer for "The Daily Show" and "Mystery Science Theater 3000"), Dan McCoy (former writer for "The Daily Show"), and Stuart Wellington (owner, Hinterlands Bar) are friends who’ve decided to express that friendship not by doing productive or enjoyable things, but instead by watching critical or commercial flops, and then discussing them — with a combination of insightful cinematic analysis and digressive comedic nonsense that The New York Times calls “a great listen for movie fans.” Although, honestly, most of the time they just talk about random bullshit.

The Film for the 7:00pm show will be The Avengers. Not that Avengers, the other one from 1998 based on the classic British TV show and staring Ralph Fiennes, Uma Thurman, and Sean Connery. It’s full of cat suits, bear suits, human size hamster balls, and a honest to goodness weather machine. It’s a trip (and only about 80 minutes)

The Flop House Podcast Live! (9pm Show)

The Film for the 9:00pm show will be Spice World (1997). No this movie is not about the melange producing desert planet of Arrakas, its an ill-conceived vehicle for 90’s pop sensation the Spice Girls. Can the Flop Boys stand up to the sheer Girl Power of this film? Buy a ticket to find out.

Loremen Podcast

Join James Shakeshaft and Alasdair Beckett-King as we “investigate” forgotten folklore in front of a live studio audience for some Oxford stories thick with ghosts!

Robin Hood? The Loch Ness Monster? Pfff! Too mainstream. Loremen is about folklore you probably haven’t even heard of. Previous subjects include the Ghost Duck of Stoke, the London Monster and Gef the Talking Mongoose. And who could forget, the Mickleton Hooter?

Two absolute legends (AKA fully vaccinated men) will tell stories from the British Isles, and then grade them according to the completely arbitrary Loremen Scoring System. This will be a truly spoopy LIVE outing for the Loremen podcast, so we really hope both of our fans can make it.

Listeners are calling Loremen:
“The best comedy podcast I’ve come across.”
“Witty and well researched.”
“Pumpkin racists.”
